Intelligent Agents – Create an Intelligent Agent – Instructor

Use intelligent agents to monitor login activity,
course activity, and release conditions in your course.
This tutorial shows how to create an intelligent agent.
Before you begin creating your new intelligent agent, you need to decide:
The criteria the agent looks for, which can include login activity, course activity, and
attached release conditions. The content of the email that the agent sends
and how often the agent acts. For this example, we will create an intelligent
agent that notifies learners to access their course if they have not logged in within the
last 5 days. To begin, from the Agent list, click New.
Enter a name for your agent. Ensure Agent is enabled, in the Status section,
is selected so the agent is enabled upon creation. Click Edit Description…
then enter one in the field. These additional details will display on the Agent List page.
Navigate to the Criteria section. For this example, we want the agent to contact
learners who have not logged in within the last five days.
Select Take action when the following login criteria are satisfied.
Determine the login activity you want to monitor and enter the number of days you want to set.
Then, in the Actions section… set the repetition details and action specifics.
For this example, leave Take action every time the agent is evaluated and the agent’s
criteria are satisfied for a user selected. Next, we will create the email that will be
sent when a learner satisfies the agent criteria. Click Send an email when the criteria are
satisfied. Enter who the agent will contact when a user
is identified, a detailed subject, and a message. Note: You can use special replace strings,
which auto-populate content, in the To, CC, BCC, Email Subject, and Message fields.
Lastly, navigate to the Scheduling section. If you want the agent to run on a schedule,
select Use Schedule. Then, to define the schedule, click Update
Schedule. You can select whether the repetition is daily,
weekly, monthly, or annually. For this example, we want the agent to run daily for the duration
of the course. Select the start and end dates for your course.
Then, click Update. When you are ready, click Save and Close
Your new Intelligent Agent is enabled and will send notifications to users as necessary.
Use intelligent agents to monitor login activity, course activity, and release conditions in
your course.
