Jerusalem Travel Vlog: Holy City Tour! | Israel Part 3

[Music] Hi guys, welcome to my third vlog from my trip to Israel So after the Dead Sea, I headed to the holy city of Jerusalem. So I hope you enjoy and don’t forget to subscribe [Music] So we arrived at Mahane Yehuda Market, there are so many fresh fruits and vegetables here I’m eating halva, which is made of tahini, tahini is a paste made of ground sesame seeds I tried knafe, which is this cheese pastry soaked in syrup There are so many sweets and desserts here, I just love walking around and trying everything [Music] Hi, we’re at Azura restaraunt This is an Iraqian-Turkish restaurant and they use fresh ingredients from the market and here we have hummus and beef sofrito Okay, so beef sofrito is a stew which is slow-cooked overnight in this Spanish sauce and it’s so good! We’re gonna head to the old city right now Okay, so I’m just about to enter the old city from the Jaffa Gate Over here is the Tower of David also known as the Citadel This tower is about 2,000 years old. It was built during the Herodian and Hashmonean period The old city is divided into four quarters – Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Armenian We’re walking through the Arab market in the Christian quarter right now on our way to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre The Church of the Holy Sepulchre is said to be the place where Jesus was crucified, buried and resurrected [Music] I’m heading now to the Via Dolorosa or way of sorrow Which is the street believed to be the path that Jesus walked on, on his way to his crucifixion Today 9 out of the 14 Stations of the Cross are on the Via Dolorosa while the other five are in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre So you could walk through the stations on the Via Dolorosa [Music] After that I headed to Temple Mount Non-muslims can only enter Temple Mount through the Moroccan bridge from the western wall and only in certain hours And the Israeli police guard the complex Temple Mount is where the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock are And under Temple Mount lies the remains of the Jewish Holy Second Temple Which was destroyed by the Romans I had to wear this green suit that covers my whole body And men and women are not allowed to hold hands in the complex And non-muslims cannot go inside the mosque or look inside I Left Temple Mount through the Chain Gate and now I’m on my way back to the Western Wall As you can see here security is really high when you enter the Western Wall The Western Wall is the only remaining wall of the Jewish Second Holy Temple It’s a tradition to put a note asking for a wish and putting it into the wall Oh yeah, it’s also a custom to walk out of the wall backwards, because if you don’t it’s bad luck, so let’s just walk Backwards So I just made some wishes and I hope they will come true! Now I’m going to hop on a tour train at the exit of the Western Wall [Music] All the girls here are actually one family and they were just singing and dancing and they had such good energy I had such a fun experience here Oh, and one more thing there is another really good restaurant called Machneyuda Restaurant. It’s one of the most popular restaurants in the country I forgot to film my evening there, but if you’re ever here, you should check it out [Music]
